The Fourth of July is a rare day of commonality. We all share this patch of earth that we call community embraced in the larger context of the United States of America.

This is a day of coming together to celebrate  the freedoms we so often overlook in the crushing pace of life today.

Keep in mind how much of your daily life involves the simple and vital component of trust.

We trust these things:

1. the  other guy will stop  his car at the red light.

2. your car will be safe in the parking lot while you get groceries.

3. your employer will pay the bills so you can work in an office with lights.

4. the bank will not flagrantly steal your money.

5. no one will break down your door in the night and demand a hostage.

These are just a few of the things to give thought to over the holiday.
